J'arrive a Paris! 0945 5/16

My flights over were too uneventful. No problems at security and no delayed flights. I did get selected for the pat down search in Sacramento, and the TSA agents were very professional. I had packed a jar of Sacramento valley wildflower honey as a gift that they saw on the x-ray and confiscated. I couldn't sleep on the planes and did not take a nap today. No time to sleep when it's 71 degrees and sunny with blue skies today in Paris. I caught the RER-B train from the airport to Notre Dame-St. Michelle station. Then walked up to the next level and took the RER-C train 2 stops to Les Envalides, and then just a short walk down quai d'Orsay along the Seine to the apartment I rented. I'm posting some photos below and on Picasa from my travels.
    4 rue Desgenettes

Quai d'Orsay along the Seine river is where the trees are. I'm on the 4th floor, and there is a small elevator. The apartment is small but very sufficient. Wifi, fridge, shower, microwave, stove top, washing machine and a large bed. I'm also posting photos of the room at the link at the bottom of this blog entry.

    Rue Cler Market

The first thing I did was go to a grocery store to get some things for the stay. I walked down rue Cler and bought some small round bread biscuits, bananas and apples. At the G20 grocery store I got some lemonade, tea, toilet paper, etc. I think I'm ready

The Seine and quai d'Orsay on a busy Saturday

It's been a long time since I've seen crowds like this, probably since visiting San Francisco. I took photos of and from the bridges in the area, then walked to the Eiffel Tower.

    My kick-back spot

I spent an hour or two walking around and watching people. There were all kinds of people there today. I will go back at night to see the tower lit up. It is a very safe area. Lots of people walking when I came back from Musee d'Orsay.

Impressionists art hanging our at Musee d'Orsay

I liked the impressionist paintings the best at this museum (Musee d'Orsay)  I could have spent a couple more hours there and the line was longer when I left at 10 PM than when I arrived at 7:30 PM. Best of all, it was free museum night. No cost at most museums from 6:00 to midnight.

Here's the link to the photos from today:
