San Francisco in February

Saturday, 22 February, I decided to take the Vallejo ferry to the city just to walk around and play tourist. It was a nice day in the bay area as you can see from the sky in the photos below. Temperature was between 60 and 70 degrees all afternoon.

The Vallejo to San Francisco ferry is fast and fun

I like the ride and the convenience of no-hassle parking at the ferry terminal, and no need to drive and park in the city.

The view from the ferry during the 1-hour trip on a beautiful day is worth the trip itself. I spoke with a woman who likes to ride the ferry around Christmas time, round-trip, and not even get off in San Francisco. Just the view of the city at night with all the buildings lit up is a nice trip to take. I'll remember that.

Just a  bit of fog burning off in the City and the bay bridge in the distance.

Coit Tower in the distance is a typical view from a window seat.

When I got off the ferry, I headed right across the street into the outdoor market area and the crowds of tourists and locals enjoying this great spring weather in winter.

Walking into China Town on my walk through San Francisco

I took Market and Pine through China Town and up to Van Ness where I visited the Guitar Center. I do love those hills and my calves will attest to that today. The guitar players in Rusty Volume urged me to visit Guitar Center. So I grabbed a few acoustic guitars off the wall and played them for a bit before heading on.

A large selection of guitars at Guitar Center on Van Ness

I took bus 47 from Hyde on Van Ness down to Fisherman's Wharf to play tourist and just watch the people and street entertainers. With such a nice day, the crowds were out and enjoying the shows and food and smells of San Francisco.

The bus let me off at Fisherman's Wharf. How convenient.

I love walking along Fisherman's Wharf, especially when there are crowds of families, tourists, street people, and locals. And Saturday was a perfect example of San Francisco at its best.

Street musicians are very talented here. Wish I could play as well.

The gentleman in the photo above was playing right at the entrance to Pier 39. He always had a crowd around him and played one heck of a guitar. Very entertaining.

   Crab anyone?

The crab and fresh seafood along Fisherman's Wharf looked fresh. And, judging by the crowds buying and eating, it was very tasty. Me? No, I had a Vegetarian burger and a beer at a restaurant on Pier 39. I had a table right outside and watched the crowds of people walk by. Everyone was having fun. No one was disorderly or rude. If you haven't visited the city in awhile, I urge you to spend some time walking around, taking pictures, eating some great food and enjoying the beautiful weather of San Francisco, like the people in the photo below on Pier 39.

Here are all the photos I took yesterday (22 February). I'll add comments to them later.
