Folsom Lake, January 18, 2014 at Beal's Point

As practice for my upcoming trip to Paris, I am experimenting with uploading links and photos to this blog site from my iPad. It's a bit more cumbersome than from my computer, but I'll get it down to a good process, and be ready to share my explorations with you from Paris in May.

I went to Beal's Point at Folsom Lake this morning and took some pictures. I walked down close enough to the dam that , if it were allowed, I could have swam (swum?) over and climbed onto the temperature control device.

Beal's Point is a popular swimming area, though perhaps not this year.

These lifeguard stations warn that there is no lifeguard on duty. That bike rider better be careful!

Here is a link to the photos I uploaded to Picasa from today's exploration.

Let me know if this does not work for you.

Mr. Mallow will blog from Paris in May

I can't wait to roast Marshmallows with mes amis en France in May. I hope to practice my blogging on my iPad, as I am doing now, so that I can share my thoughts and links to photos with all of you.

The big news here in way-too-sunny California is the drought.

Folsom Lake marina is dry as shown in my photo above. And look at that dry grass! Let's hope for some rain and snow soon. I have a pass to Northstar, Heavenly and Kirkwood ski resorts that I've been unable to use. And firefighters across this state are already busy fighting fires.

The old Salmon Falls bridge has been exposed for awhile now, as shown in my photo above from a couple weeks ago. It should be under water now, and all year long. Tomorrow (January 18) I'll head back out to Folsom Lake to take more pictures.
